Dr. Patricia “Trish” Hanley
Trish Hanley was born in Philadelphia, PA and grew up raised by a single mom in Florida. She obtained a BS in Chemistry from the University of Florida in 1979. She came to Austin for Chemistry graduate school but really majored in the Austin music scene. She then worked as a chemist for City of Austin, continued in the Austin music scene and formed many friendships that last to this day. She graduated medical school in 1988 from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where she also learned some Spanish. Residency was at Brackenridge in Austin and she has worked in lovely South Austin since.
She lives in rural Travis County and attempts environmental responsibility. She is conversant in Spanish, an avid reader and has no TV. She has plants that have survived since she left home at age 17. She lives with Tim an incredible chef and oenophile, who can also wield a chainsaw. She blames all her middle aged weight gain on Tim. Tim’s grown kids, Francis and Augusta, are nearly perfect and don’t visit enough. The family’s nearly perfect pets are Chris, the geriatric dog, and Ruby the black cat.
Dr. Hanley has been in practice for seven years. She completed graduate studies in analytical chemistry and medicine, followed by post-graduate training at Central Texas Medical Foundation in Austin. Dr. Hanley's experience ranges from volunteer work as a family practice physician at community clinics to working as an environmental chemist for the city.

I love helping my patients achieve total wellness by treating the whole person, not just an illness or a symptom. I encourage lifestyle modification including nutrition, exercise, and stress management. I have a special interest in women’s health, dermatology, allergy/immunology, sports medicine, and alternative & complimentary medicine.
When I am not doing the work I am so passionate about, I enjoy participating in triathalons, cooking, and volunteering with the Humane Society.

"I became a family physician because I believe we should care for families as units, rather than sending each member off to a different provider. I also believe that educating my patients in the process of caring for them is one of the most important services I can provide, because it empowers them to take an active role in their health care."
